The ACE Fellows Program is designed to strengthen institutions and leadership in American higher education by identifying and preparing faculty and staff for senior positions in college and university administration through its distinctive and intensive nominator-driven, cohort-based mentorship model.

Castro-Balbi is one of 45 university leaders selected this year. He is the first full-time cello professor at the TCU School of Music and the founder of the TCU Cello Ensemble, the biennial TCU Cellofest and the Faculty & Friends Chamber Music Series. His commitment to the university extends to service in various forums advancing the institution’s mission including the Faculty Senate and institutional strategic planning.

Castro-Balbi’s artistic activities encompass critically acclaimed performances and broadcasts in the United States, Asia, Europe and throughout Latin America as a soloist with the Dallas and Fort Worth Symphony orchestras, the China Philharmonic and the Mexico City Philharmonic, among others. He is a graduate of the Conservatoire National Superieur at Lyon, Indiana University at Bloomington and Yale, and he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts at the Julliard School.

ACE is the primary coordinating body for all the nation’s higher education institutions, representing nearly 1,800 college and university presidents and related associations.
