March 11, 2020—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half staff Thursday, March 12, 2020, in memory of Michael G. Moritz, who was an instructor/lecturer in finance at TCU from August 1997-May 2001. Mr. Moritz passed away Feb. 29.

March 5, 2020—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half staff Friday, March 6, 2020, in memory of Dr. Terry E. Dielman who passed away Feb. 27. Dr. Dielman taught in the Information Systems & Supply Chain Management department of Neeley School of Business from August 1978 until his retirement in August 2013.

Feb. 28, 2020—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half staff on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, in memory of Naunie Mead Lobaugh, who worked as a hall director in the Residential Life Department at TCU from August 2000 through May 2002. She passed away Thursday, Feb. 27.

Feb. 19, 2020—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half staff on Thursday, Feb. 20, in memory of Honorary Trustee Anne Marion. Mrs. Marion passed away Feb. 12.

Jan. 21, 2020—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half staff Wednesday, Jan. 22, in memory of Dr. Mike Harville who passed away unexpectedly last Friday. Dr. Harville was a professor of professional practice in the Engineering department who began teaching at TCU in August 2016.

Dec. 12, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half staff on Friday, Dec. 13, in memory of Emily Sullivan who passed away on Dec. 10.  Emily worked at TCU in the Office of Admission from April 1996 until her retirement in June 2009.

Dec. 2, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Dec. 6, in memory of Pat Sullivan, who was the head football coach at TCU from 1992-1997. Coach Sullivan passed away Saturday, Nov. 30.

Nov. 14, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff on Monday, Nov. 18, in memory of Dolores Villegas who passed away Nov. 8, 2019. Dolores worked as an administrative assistant in the Department of Communication Studies from April 1987 until her retirement in June 2016.

Oct. 31, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, in memory of Shirley Bubar who passed away Oct. 27. Shirley worked at Brite Divinity School first in admissions and then as executive assistant to the Dean from September 1989 until her retirement in September 2007.

Sept. 16, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Sept. 20 in memory of Alan Crume who passed away Sept. 13. Crume was diagnosed a week prior with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Alan worked in Information Technology from September 1991 until his recent retirement on July 31, 2019.

Aug. 23, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Aug. 26 in memory of Horned Frogs we lost this summer.

Aug. 13, 2019—In memory of Joey Jeter, the Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff later this month when the flags are reinstalled in front of M.E. Sadler Hall. Jeter joined the Brite faculty in 1984 and taught until his retirement in 2010.

Aug. 6, 2019—In memory of Marjorie D. Lewis, the Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff in August when the flags are reinstalled in front of M.E. Sadler Hall. Lewis taught English at TCU from 1965 until her retirement in 1994.

July 26, 2019—In memory of Luther Clegg, the Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff in August when the flags are reinstalled in front of M.E. Sadler Hall. Clegg taught in the College of Education from 1968 until his retirement in 2003. The flags will also be lowered in August in memory of Jayne Naff who worked in the Financial Aid Office from 1963 to 1976.

July 22, 2019—In memory of Emeritus Trustee Marvin Gearhart, the Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff in August when the flags are reinstalled in front of M.E. Sadler Hall.

July 15, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag located near the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center be lowered to half-staff July 17 in memory of Tut Bartzen. Bartzen coached tennis at TCU from 1974 to 1998.

July 15, 2019—In memory of Roger Pfaffenberger, the Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff in August when the flags are reinstalled in front of M.E. Sadler Hall. Pfaffenberger worked at the Neeley School of Business from 1978 to 2001.

July 15, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff in memory of Ned Boehm Jr. who served in various roles, including Dean of Admission, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, from 1979 until his retirement in 1989.

June 6, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff June 10 in memory of Henri Etta Kilgore who worked in Publications/Graphic Design from 1980 until her retirement in 2013.

May 13, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff May 17 in memory of Suzanne Stone who worked at Brite Divinity School from 2001 until her retirement last year.

April 22, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff April 26 in memory of Pat Duran who worked at TCU from 1984 until his retirement in 2010.

April 9, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff April 10 in memory of  TCU employee Lourdes Espinosa Carpinteyro, who worked in Residential Housekeeping from 1983 until her retirement in 2007.

April 2, 2019—In memory of Jamie Dulle, assistant dean for Student Affairs, who passed away in March, the Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff April 12.

March 22, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff March 25 in memory of Kay Westendorf who worked at TCU from 1988 until her retirement in 2010.

March 19, 2019—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff April 30 in memory of Scott Sullivan, dean of the College of Fine Arts from 2000 until his retirement in 2016.

Feb. 18, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Feb. 22 in memory of Barbara J. Thomsen, who worked at the Institute of Behavioral Research from 1990 until her retirement in 2007.

Feb. 1, 2019—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Feb. 4 in memory of Emeritus Trustee Ann M. Jones, who served on the Board of Trustees from 1988 until 2011.

Jan. 30, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Feb. 1 in memory of Anne Tomme, who worked in Mary Couts Burnett Library from 1980 until 1996.

Jan. 28, 2019—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Jan. 30 in memory of Emeritus Trustee Robert J. Wright, who passed away Jan. 17.

Jan. 24, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Jan. 28 in memory of Julia Livesay, who worked in the School of Education (now College of Education) from 1977 until her retirement in 1992.

Jan. 11, 2019—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Jan 18 in memory of Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, Henry Kelly, who passed away Jan. 2. Kelly taught chemistry at TCU from 1964 until his retirement in 1997.

Jan. 2, 2019—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Jan. 4 in memory of Emeritus Professor of Management Stanley Allen Self, who taught in the Neeley School of Business for nearly 25 years.

David Gutsche, former Welch chair of Chemistry, passed away in August 2018.

Dec. 20, 2018—On Dec. 21, we will also remember Stella Mae Barber, who worked in Development from 1981 until 1988, with the lowering of the TCU flag to half-staff.

Nov. 27, 2018—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Dec. 21 in memory of Katherine “Kitsy” Moody who worked in Mary Couts Burnett Library from 1989-1993.

Oct. 12, 2018—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Oct. 22 in memory of Roddy Wolper who worked in communications from August 1977 until May 1978.

Sept. 24, 2018—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Sept. 28 in memory of Mark Welliver, DNP, professor of professional practice in nurse anesthesia, who passed away last week.

Sept. 17, 2018—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Sept. 18 in memory of Joseph Schott, a former director for the Department of Criminal Justice.

July 6, 2018—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff July 9 in memory of Emeritus Assistant Professor of Accounting Sanoa Hensley.

June 25, 2018—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff June 29 in memory of Mary Anne Gorman, Emeritus professor.

June 12, 2018–Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff June 13 in memory of Peggy Barr who served as vice chancellor for Student Affairs from 1985-1992.

May 10, 2018—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff May 18 in memory Ron Watson. Watson taught art at TCU for 30 years.

Feb. 8, 2018—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Feb. 12 in memory of Rev. Dr. John W. Long, a long-time member of the TCU Board of Trustees.

Jan. 16, 2018—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Jan. 19 in memory of Melanie Ann Diggs Mertz who worked at TCU in 1998 and again from 2007-2015. In addition, Chancellor Boschini requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Feb. 9 in memory of Emeritus Professor of New Testament William Baird who taught at Brite Divinity School from 1967 until 1992.

Nov. 21—Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Nov. 27 in memory of Henry Geffert who taught in the Art and Art History department from 1964-1989.

Oct. 4—The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Oct. 20 in memory of Dr. Geraldine Dominak, former professor of accounting.

Aug. 21—Dr. Arthur J. Ehlmann, emeritus professor of geology, passed away Aug. 19. Chancellor Boschini has requested that the TCU flag be lowered to half’-staff Aug. 28, the day of Ehlmann’s memorial service.

Aug. 3, 2017—The TCU flag will be lowered to half-staff Aug. 7 in memory of Martha Dell Langley. Langley worked in the business school as secretary to Dean Ellis Sowell. She passed away Jan. 24.

July 31, 2017—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Aug. 1 in memory of Dr. Leo G. Perdue. Perdue served as dean and the first president of Brite Divinity School from 1989 until his retirement in 2012.

July 27, 2017—The TCU flag will be lowered to half-staff July 31 in memory of Emeritus Associate Professor of History Dr. John Bohon. Bohon taught at TCU from 1965 until his retirement in 1995.

July 20, 2017—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff July 21 in memory of Harrison Smith.

June 9, 2017 — The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff June 12 in memory of Jimmy Thomas. Thomas served as an assistant football coach from 1974-76.

June 7, 2017—The TCU flag will be lowered to half-staff tomorrow in memory of Betty Whiteside who passed away May 30. She worked in Church Relations at TCU for several years.

June 6, 2017 — The Chancellor has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff June 8 in memory of Brian Lehon who passed away in May. Lehon worked at the Center for Instructional Services for the past five years.

May 10, 2017 – Deidre Williams, who worked at the Neeley School of Business from 1997 until her retirement in 2016, passed away May 4. Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff today.

April 13, 2017 – Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff May 5 in memory of Ed Adcock who worked in the Physical Plant from 1998 until his retirement on March 31, 2016. Adcock passed away March 30.

March 27, 2017–Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff March 31 in memory of Alena Jarvis, a TCU freshman who passed away during spring break.

March 6, 2017–Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff March 7 in memory of Emeritus Trustee Spencer Hays who passed away March. 2. Hays served on the Board of Trustees from 1987-2003.

Feb. 23, 2017–The TCU flag will be lowered to half-staff March 3 in memory of Dr. Bob Lusch, who passed away Thursday. Lusch served as dean of the Neeley School of Business from 2000-2004.

Jan. 27–Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. has requested the TCU flag be flown at half-staff today in memory of Aileen Stone. Stone, who worked in the Physical Plant from 1989 until her retirement in 2012, passed away Monday at the age of 95.

Dec. 5–The flags will fly at half-staff Wed., Dec. 7 in memory of Mary Howell who worked at the Mary Couts Burnett Library from 1979 until her retirement in 2009.

Nov. 3–Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Friday in memory of Emeritus Professor of English Bob Frye who passed away Nov. 2. Frye taught at TCU from 1966 until his retirement in 2003.  

Nov. 2–In memory of Emeritus Professor of Philosophy Dr. Gregg W. Franzwa who passed away Oct. 28, the TCU flag will be lowered to half-staff today. Franzwa taught at TCU from 1976 until his retirement in 2011.

Sept. 13–Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff today in memory of Dale Worthington who worked in the Physical Plant from 1971 until his retirement in 1998.

Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff Aug. 5 in memory of Margaret Thompson who worked in the Counseling Center from 1967-2013.

Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff June 17 in memory of Dr. Peter Locke who taught in the Finance Department of the M. J. Neeley School of Business from August 2006 until his death on June 10.

Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff June 13 in memory of Jim Henley who taught Sociology at TCU from 1970 until his retirement as Associate Dean of AddRan College of Arts and Sciences in 2002. His obit appears below.

May 31—Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered today in memory of Terri Lee Mabe, who passed away Friday. Mabe worked in the TCU Geology & Environmental Science Department for 16 years.

May 12–Aaron Chimbel and his wife welcomed a new addition to their family today. Dylan Frances Chimbel, born at 1:28 p.m., weighs 6 pounds 12 ounces. Chimbel is associate professor of professional practice in journalism and administrative fellow for the John V. Roach Honors College. Mom, dad and big sister Claire are all doing great.

Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered today in memory of former Vice Chancellor for Fiscal Affairs (now Finance & Administration) Dr. E. Leigh Secrest, who passed away Friday.  Dr. Secrest worked at TCU in various positions from 1965 until his retirement in 1993.

Today, April 14, the campus flags are flying at half-staff in memory of Dr. Karyn Purvis, who passed away Sunday. Purvis has served as the director of TCU Institute of Child Development since it began 2005. Our sympathy is extended to her family.

Professor Emeritus Floyd W. Durham, Jr. passed away March 15. Dr. Durham taught Economics at TCU from 1960 until his retirement in 1995. Our sympathy is extended to his family.

Our sympathy is extended to the family of JoAnn Studdard who passed away March 7. Studdard worked as an administrative assistant in Engineering from 1986 to 1997.

Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half-staff today, Feb. 26, in memory of TCU sophomore Taylor Renee Helland who lost her battle with cancer Saturday.

Our sympathy is extended to the family of Mark Rice, lead technical services analyst with Development Information Services, passed away this morning, Feb. 8. Rice came to TCU in 2004.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Jack Cobb who passed away Feb. 2. Cobb who worked in the Physical Plant from 1960 until his retirement in 2000.  

Jan Butler passed away Jan. 22. Butler came to TCU in May 1994 and retired in December 2008.  During her career at TCU, she worked in Advancement and for Dean Ray Brown in Admission.

Wanda Lee “Ana” Sherman passed away Dec. 11. Sherman worked at TCU from 1971 until her retirement in 1992.  Our sympathies are extended to her family.

Sympathy is extended to the family Emeritus Vice Chancellor Howard G. Wible, Jr., who passed away Dec. 10. Dr. Wible worked at TCU from 1958 until his retirement in 1985.

Kerrie Conover and Eric Meister were married at Ash Cave in Hocking Hills, Ohio, Oct. 17. Conover is the manager of Instructional Design in the Koehler Center for Teaching Excellence at TCU.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Dee J. Kelly, who passed away Oct. 2. Kelly served on the Board of Trustees from 1971 until 2007, at which time he became an Emeritus Trustee.

Sympathy is extended to the family of the Rev. John Butler, who passed away Sept.21. Butler served as minister of the University from December 1975 until his retirement in February 2004.
