Fort Worth Mayor participates in College of Education panel

Educational Leadership Panel 1Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, Dr. Linda Joy Gates Black of the Tarrant County Community College System, and Dr. Mary Martin Patton, dean of TCU’s College of Education, participated in a panel discussion on Women in Leadership Nov. 2 as part of an educational leadership program.

The course, leadership: theory and practice, taught by Dr. Marla McGhee, is part of the graduate program in Educational Leadership at TCU. Students had the opportunity to ask questions of accomplished individuals and outstanding leaders in our community, particularly women, about the challenges they’ve faced and opportunities they’ve realized across their careers.

The 22 students in McGhee’s class, from EC-12 educational leadership and higher education leadership programs, were responsible for preparing the questions for the panel based on their readings and prior class discussions.

One of the most compelling leadership comments of the evening came from Mayor Price when she stated, “it never crossed my mind that I couldn’t do anything I wanted to do.”
