CEO Action for Diversity Day of Understanding

Feb. 26, 1:30-3 p.m., Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center (Cox A & B)

Even with the best intentions we can say things that are hurtful to others without realizing the impact of our words. In this introductory-level workshop, a self-directed learning model will help participants identify opportunities for action and practice using inclusive language in the campus community.

*For those who want to learn more about using inclusive language. Designed for beginners who want to foster an inclusive environment.

 

Exploring Blind Spots to Build Understanding

March 4, 2-4 p.m., Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center (Murphy Conference Room)

Course Number EXPLR1

This workshop will discuss the impact of potential blind spots and implicit bias on interactions and engaging in conversations in the workplace to expand perspectives, build relationships and foster a culture of inclusion. This is an entry-level workshop and will be offered every semester.

*For those who want to learn more about how bias effects our everyday behavior and how to manage those bias. Designed for those seeking to change personal behavior.

 

Intercultural Conflict in the Classroom

April 17, 10 a.m.-noon, Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center (Murphy Conference Room)

Course Number INTER1

This workshop will provide basic conflict resolution theories to help participants identify and manage intercultural conflict in the classroom. The workshop also will provide practical strategies to address and resolve intercultural conflict in classroom conversations. Finally, in this interactive workshop, participants also will practice skills discussed utilizing a variety of interactive activities designed to help navigate conflict in our classroom communities.
