Nominations open for annual DEI award

Nominations are now open for the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award, an honor established in 2017 and given annually to a faculty or staff member who has demonstrated a continued practice of cultural change on campus while working collaboratively with others.

The 2019 honoree will be named at the 2020 Fall Convocation and will receive a $5,000 award. All finalists receive a $1,000 award and an invitation to a luncheon with other nominees.

“TCU is committed to a diverse and inclusive campus that is welcoming and respectful of all,” Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr., said. “This is award was created to honor individuals who are a true force for the greater good by working hard for cultural improvements that positively impact our campus community.”

Nominations may be submitted by TCU faculty, staff or students online or via mail to the Chancellor’s office and may be submitted in either English or Spanish. The deadline for nominations is April 10.

“As the recipient of the 2018 award, it’s an important reminder of the critical work and direct impact of ongoing DEI initiatives colleagues are engaged in across campus,” said Susie Olmos-Soto, senior learning and development consultant in Human Resources.

Among her contributions was the addition of GED/HiSET prep courses and ESL classes made available on campus for TCU employees.

“I encourage the campus community to take the lead on nominating, nominating, nominating,” Olmos-Soto said. “Your nomination brings voice and visibility to critical research and intentional work to further build on a heritage of equity and inclusion at TCU.”
