Harry Parker named inaugural Ronald A. Willis Scholar/Artist by University of Kansas

Harry Parker, Ph.D.

Harry Parker, chair of TCU’s Department of Theatre, is the inaugural Ronald A. Willis Scholar/Artist as named by the University of Kansas Department of Theatre. This position, made possible by the Ronald A. Willis Visiting Scholar/Artist Fund, brings master teachers to the university to contribute to the growth of students and the artistry of KU’s theatre production program.

Parker has directed more than 100 professional, community and academic productions across the country, and is the Founding Managing Director of the Trinity Shakespeare Festival at TCU. He earned his bachelor’s degree from TCU, and both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. This fall, he will be in residency at the University of Kansas to direct a theatre production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

“This recognition is particularly meaningful to me as Dr. Willis was one of my graduate professors at KU. He was instrumental in my training, and a mentor and scholar I deeply respected,” said Parker.
