(February 12, 2025) A long-standing initiative dedicated to collaborative planning to enhance the Texas Christian University campus culture will be led by Aisha Torrey-Sawyer, the newly appointed director of the Center for Connection Culture. Torrey-Sawyer’s leadership comes at an important time as TCU strengthens its commitment to its mission, vision and values through its new LEAD ON: Values in Action strategic plan.

Torrey-Sawyer’s appointment follows the impactful tenure of Sheri Miller, who has led the center with dedication and vision since 2017. Miller will retire at the end of May 2025 after 22 years of devoted service to TCU. President Daniel W. Pullin praised Miller’s leadership and expressed confidence in Torrey-Sawyer’s ability to advance and elevate the center’s mission.

Sheri Miller, who has led the Center for Connection Culture since 2017, will retire at the end of May 2025 after 22 years of devoted service to TCU.

“Sheri’s contributions have shaped a strong foundation for our community and we are grateful for her dedicated service to TCU and supporting our connected culture,” Pullin said. “With Aisha now at the helm, TCU is poised to further strengthen a culture where every member of our community thrives.”

Torrey-Sawyer, who has played a key role in developing strategic programs for the university, is set to build upon the center’s legacy of enhancing connection and engagement. The Center for Connection Culture was first established by Chancellor Victor J. Boschini in 2013, to recognize, protect and strengthen TCU’s commitment to a connected community that values a culture of belonging.

“As we reaffirm our commitment to our values of Excellence, Integrity, Engagement and Community, I am honored to lead the Center for Connection Culture and continue the important work of fostering meaningful connections for every Horned Frog,” Torrey-Sawyer said. “My team and I look forward to continued collaboration with our campus community.

The Center for Connection Culture team includes Vincent Perez, Assistant Director, Brenda Fisher, Executive Assistant and Natalia Dominguez, Graduate Assistant. The center reports to Jonathan Benjamin-Alvarado (known to Horned Frogs as “JBA”), Senior Advisor to the Chancellor for University Culture.

“As we launch our new strategic plan, JBA’s contributions and leadership are a critical part of achieving our goals, ensuring the success of every Horned Frog and building on TCU’s community excellence, culture and engagement,” Pullin said.
