In TCU’s strings program, you’ll learn from nationally and internationally recognized violin, viola, cello, bass, harp and guitar musicians. What Sets Us Apart
TCU is home to several important string-related festivals and workshops, including the Chamber Music Roundup-Intensive String Quartet Workshop for advanced students, CelloFest, BassFest, Harp Workshop and TCU Summer String Workshop. These programs offer students opportunities to work and perform with some of the best professional musicians in the world.
There are countless performance opportunities at TCU. You’ll take part in solo recitals, concerts by the TCU Symphony, chamber music ensemble concerts, New Music Ensemble recitals, Collegium Musicum ensemble performances, opera productions and many others.
You’ll also have the opportunity to perform in the state-of-the-art Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU, named to honor the memory of the beloved concert pianist and Fort Worth legend.
Career Prospects
Many career options are possible upon graduation, including performance, teaching or arts administration. TCU School of Music alumni often lead sections of professional orchestras, enjoy solo careers, tour with chamber music groups, establish music businesses or conservatories or even lead community outreach programs, like the B Sharp Foundation in Fort Worth.
