 Prepare for certification and lifelong practice as a confident athletic trainer through immersive, evidence-based and interprofessional education at TCU.

TCU’s Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) prepares you to become a certified athletic trainer through diverse clinical experiences, evidence‑based coursework, and interprofessional education. You will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation for a wide range of patient populations, while demonstrating professionalism, ethical conduct and critical thinking. 

The program includes integrative and immersive clinical experiences across athletic training practice settings, including intercollegiate athletics, secondary schools, rehabilitation clinics, and physician practices. Immersive experiences provide practice‑intensive engagement in the full scope of athletic training care and have included placements with intercollegiate athletic programs and professional sports organizations nationwide, such as Texas A&M, SMU, University of Florida, UFL, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans and Texas Rangers.

Full-time graduate students may receive financial assistance through fellowships, graduate and teaching assistantships, research assistantships, graduate instructor positions and merited tuition.

Faculty & Research

You will learn from experienced faculty and clinical preceptors who are certified athletic trainers and health care professionals with expertise in injury evaluation, rehabilitation, and clinical practice. Together, they provide mentorship, applied instruction, and real‑time feedback that support your development as a competent and reflective athletic training professional. 

Through integrative and immersive clinical experiences, you’ll manage patient care across a variety of athletic training practice settings, preparing you to deliver comprehensive care and transition confidently into professional practice.

Through extensive integrative and immersive clinical education, you will develop the skills and confidence to manage patient care across diverse populations. Alumni of the program have successfully transitioned into professional athletic training roles, pursued CAATE-accredited athletic training residency programs for advanced specialty training, or continued their education in related health professions, reflecting the program’s strong preparation for both immediate practice and long-term career development.
